2018 One Week Update

To end 2017 and start 2018 I never did my NYE or NYD marathons as I felt ill and a little weak but luckily the race director is a star and let me transfer my races to other dates! I felt great first day back at work which is typical.

New thing this year is NO ALCOHOL! Yep a whole year and hopefully longer without a beer. Let’s see how productive I can become and see how it makes my running better!

So I’ve stated running regularly again as well as mixing in my 30 Mins walks. This week went like this:

All below 134 heart rate using the MAF method

Tuesday: 30 minute walk in the morning then 60 minutes on the treadmill at home.

Wednesday: 30 minute walk in the morning then 60 minutes on the treadmill at home.

Thursday: No morning walk as it was pouring down but still 60 minutes on the treadmill at home.

Friday: 30 minute walk in the morning then we stayed in a hotel and had a free vegan meal so no running that night.

Saturday: 8 miles in the late morning along the sea front. Lovely warm winter’s day too.

Sunday: 10 miles in the morning along the sea front with a 41 mph wind for 5 miles. Took some bloody going but I never gave in! Half my face went numb around mile 4 too.

So all told I’ve done 41 miles this week with only 6 of those walking. I feel great and next week I’m trying a new method of running at work in the morning and then showering at work and starting/ finishing a little later. I’ll let you know how I get on.

This might give me a little more time at home to learn my Spanish! My wife bought me a whole Rosetta Stone Spanish course and I’m dying to get going!

The restaurant we went to was called Royal Harbour Hotel in Ramsgate and I won a one night stay with meal and breakfast in a Vegan Living magazine competition so very happy about that and the food and view was amazing!

Today I’ve been prepping tons of food for next week including grapes, melons, blueberries, grapefruit and a MASSIVE salad I’ll take a pic of tomorrow and explain what’s in it too.

Treated myself to some alcohol free beer today too!

It was a token gesture I think I’ll stick to fizzy water from now on.

I’m going to try and check in often this year to see how my good my running gets being my first full year vegan and alcohol free!
